Case Study: How SINDH Machining Helped an Indian Automation Company Accelerate Prototype Validation

This case covers a 13-piece CNC gripper fixture tray made for an Indian automation OEM. We delivered high-precision prototype machining on a tight schedule to improve the client’s automated gripping stability and speed up prototype testing.

A customer from India specializing in industrial automation equipment approached SINDH Machining for a custom pallet assembly project consisting of 13 precision components. The parts would be integrated into an automation system and required strict dimensional accuracy and assembly compatibility. SINDH provides complete supply chain solutions.

Like many automation equipment manufacturers, the customer faced a common challenge:

Most of the project timeline had already been consumed by R&D, leaving very little time for manufacturing and testing.

As a result, the prototype lead time was extremely tight, while the required material was imported and had a longer procurement cycle than domestic materials.

The Challenge: Tight Production Schedules for Complex Components

  • Extremely tight prototype lead time
Most project timeline is occupied by internal R&D design work, leaving very limited window for sample machining. Any delay on prototypes will push back the whole new machine launch schedule.
  • Multi-component complex assembly
This robotic clamping fixture consists of 13 separate machined parts with mixed material requirements, demanding perfect dimensional tolerance and seamless assembly fit.
  • Long procurement cycle for imported raw stock
The engineering team specified premium imported materials for lab testing, while imported materials require an extra 2 working days for customs clearance and delivery, creating huge schedule risks.

The Solution: Our Differentiated Fast-Production Strategy

SINDH built a dual risk-control plan to eliminate prototype delays and match their urgent R&D rhythm:

1. Dual material preparation solution

  • Route A: Place urgent orders for fully certified imported materials as per their drawing requirements, to meet official laboratory testing standards.
  • Route B: Proactively communicate equivalent domestic stock materials as an alternative, cutting raw material lead time by 2 days if tolerance testing permits.

2. Optimized sampling workflow to save post-processing waiting time

We proposed a streamlined prototype process to avoid rework and compress testing cycles:

  • First batch raw machined samples skip surface finishing temporarily. We complete full CNC machining, CMM dimensional inspection and assembly fit verification first to confirm all structure & tolerance performance.

  • Arrange accelerated anodizing, passivation and polishing during the client’s factory audit in China. All finished surface-treated samples are ready for them to carry back to India directly upon inspection completion. Reduced the time required for cross-border logistics.

Project Results & Business Value Delivered

  • Eliminated international transit waiting time for finished samples; the client’s engineering team launched assembly & performance tests immediately after returning to India.

  • The whole R&D prototype validation timeline got fully back on track, and mass production order was confirmed far earlier than planned.

  • The client awarded our factory a full 5-star service review, recognizing our flexible, R&D-focused custom manufacturing support for tight-deadline automation projects.

At SINDH Machining, we don't simply manufacture components; we help customers accelerate innovation.
